Commemorating the release of freestyle BMX rider Nigel Sylvester‘s second collaborative effort with Casio G-Shock, New Jersey-based Animal Bikes announced on Monday the creation of 10 Limited Edition Autographed Sprocket Displays. Just a short week after Casio unveiled a celebrity-filled promotional video under the same name as the New York-inspired “Black Out” GD101-NS wristwatch, Animal Bikes opted to craft and release a special edition, made in America V3 sprocket, in a tonal black hue of course. Technically speaking, this updated version of Animal’s classic sprocket is CNC’d from 1/4″ thick 7075 aluminum with laser-etched details and Sylvester’s engraved signature. Unfortunately this item will not be available for retail.

Thus, sports technology company 94Fifty has stepped in to introduce a Bluetooth-equipped basketball. Billed as “motion sensor basketballs for rapid skills development,” the basketballs, created in conjunction with Spalding, allow users to chronicle a variety of data related to dribbling, passing, shooting and more, all while boasting competition modes for up to four players, specially designed workouts and analysis of one’s shooting form. Powered by internal batteries that can be recharged wirelessly, the 94Fifty Bluetooth Basketball is due to be available in October with a retail price of $200 USD.

Honda has unveiled their new 2013 Civic WTCC Racecar at the Geneva Motor Show, which is probably the best you’ll see it once the IAF World Touring Car Championship begins later this month in Italy. Resulting from extensive wind-tunnel testing, the length of the Civic’s front and rear skirt has been extended, helping to reduce overall drag, while modified wheel-wells and streamlined curves help to enhance aerodynamics. Under the hood, Honda has inserted an 1.6-liter inline-four with a turbocharger and direct injection that has been extensively tested on the track, but so far it seems Honda is holding those specs and test results close to their chests. Other modifications include an improved suspension and braking system that the team hopes will help drive this hatchback to a spot on the podium in all 12 of the series’ upcoming races, including the stop in Sonoma on September 8, the event’s first trip back to the United States in several years.
