Weighing in at just 2,449 lbs, Audi has crafted a super lightweight, apropos “Ultra” edition of its TT Quattro. Based on the current generation TT S Quattro, the concept sheds weight thanks to the use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer throughout the likes of the roof, hood, and rear end; a redesigned body structure; and a slew of detachable parts – thus resulting in a 220 lb diet compared to the body of the automobile’s standard version and a curb weight reduction of more than 660 lbs overall. Notably, a massive rear wing contributes to performance while a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder TFSI turbocharged engine provides 310 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque under the hood and is capable of a top speed of 174 mph and acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Further weight-reducing measures include the use of the R8 GT’s bucket seats coupled with a fiberglass-reinforced plastic chassis, compact cameras in place of exterior mirrors, ceramic disc brakes and titanium exhaust pipes. Perhaps a sign of things to come, the TT Ultra Quattro Concept likely provides a glimpse into what fans can expect from the next generation of the TT.
