Celebrating 90 years of the storied Motorrad is the new Motorrad R nineT from BMW. Like the German manufacturer’s classic R 32 from 1923 – BMW’s first motorcycle – the Motorrad R nineT comes powered by a flat-twin boxer. A 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled engine, the R nineT’s flat-twin is capable of producing 110 horsepower with a maximum torque of 88 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Decidedly contemporary in its aesthetic, the design pairs a front frame section and integral steering head with swing-arm mounting rear end, a removable pillion frame – thus allowing customized set-up for a passenger or just a single rider – and a bevy of optional custom-made add-ons. Replacing the usual telelever with the S 1000 RR superbike’s upside-down telescopic fork, the design also includes an 18 liter brushed aluminum tank, wire-spoke wheels, radial 4-piston mono-block brake calipers, floating 320 millimeter brake discs, ABS, and a natural anodized finish across its hand-forged aluminum parts.
