Designers often generously imbue their creations with personalities: distinct traits or details that make the piece unique. Adding a unique identity crisis to two commonplace items – the chair and the shoe – Basque designer Martín Azúa unveils his latest avant-garde creation: dubbed the Shoemaker Chair. With the “personality of a chair,” and “[requiring] the care of a shoe,” Azúa’s work features thick, laced leather folds adorning the panels of a wooden chair. The combination of these features, of course, gets increasingly worn over time – not wholly unlike that of its owner.
