Rather than outsource manufacturing to China or Taiwan, Dutch designer and founder of EPO Bicycles, Bob Schiller, is aiming to revive the local industry by bringing back the production of its bicycles to the Netherlands. Similar to the way cars are made, the EPO Bicycle is assembled out of two sheets of aluminum pressed into form, and then spot-welded together. The end product is a durable and lightweight bicycle, with a very unique design. The high-efficiency and low labor costs ensure that production can continue to take place in the Netherlands.
