Designer Amanda Ghassaei has unveiled these incredible looking laser-cut wooden records that also happen to be functional. Using a 1200dpi precision laser, Ghassaei has rendered music sound bytes from digital audio albeit with diminished quality. Levi’s and Fender, two of America’s most iconic brands, pay tribute to the origins of Hot Rod culture through a set of handmade, one-of-a-kind items as part of the Levi’s Vintage Clothing Hot Rod exhibit. Featured in this collection is a replica of a 1957 Stratocaster that has been painstakingly built and relic-ed by Fender Custom Shop’smaster builder John Cruz to portray many years of hard wear and play — in and out of the garage. In addition to the guitar, LVC also created a clothing capsule, inspired by an outfit a Hot Rodder would have worn while working on engines or jamming with friends.

Promised to be a show stopper for both car enthusiasts and music fans alike, Nissan recently created a one-off guitar repair van with legendary pro audio maker Gibson. Based on the Nissan NV200 Compact Cargo Van, the same soon-to-be base model for taxi fleets in both New York City and London, the Gibson NV200 Mobile Repair & Restoration Van is capable of providing full range of services to “casual pickers” or an entire band.
An extension to the Gibson Repair & Restoration Shop in Nashville, Tenn., the van features a 46-inch wide, 56-inch long pull-out work bench, quipped with all tools of the trade. While the exterior features an unassuming appearance of flaming guitar graphics, white Gibson lettering on deep black background, the van’s interior is lined colored leather and the same wood veneer as those on Gibson guitars. There are even four retractable Onkyo speakers for guitar tuning or an impromptu jam session.

The Stockholm-based headphone manufacturer Urbanears has introduced the upcoming Slussen. The unassuming device allows users to essentially DJ on the go with 2 input jacks: one for your headphones and another for the audio source. The Slussen iOS app, available February 1st, will provide a simplified, streamlined DJ kit that lets you mix tracks, crossfade, equalize tracks, and preview tracks through your headphones.
Look for the Slussen to hit retailers soon at the price of $15.
